?Technical Assistant (m/f/d)

to?start on 1?August 2026. The Position will initially be based at Business Campus Garching-Hochbrück near Munich. From 2027, the research group will permanently move to the new ITM building on Medical Campus in Augsburg.

The position is initially limited to two years. Thereafter - subject to the relevant requirements being met - there ist the option of permanent contract.

Remuneration will be up to a maximum of TV-L pay grade 9 b depending on personal and collective agreement requirements.

About the Group

The Molecular Cell Biology Research Group at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Augsburg (Prof. Dr. Kerstin Stemmer) focuses on the molecular mechanisms of metabolic diseases, particularly obesity, diabetes, and related complications. We also study the role of extracellular vesicles (EVs) in communication between cells and tissues.

Your Responsibilities

You will actively support our research projects and contribute to:

  • Cell biology work: cultivation and genetic modification of cell lines, isolation and differentiation of primary cells, microscopy techniques.
  • Biochemical and molecular biology methods: protein, DNA, and RNA isolation, PCR, real-time PCR, Western blotting, cloning, ELISAs.
  • Isolation and characterization of extracellular vesicles from biological samples.
  • Support in animal experiments: assistance with breeding, tissue, and organ collection.
  • Laboratory organization: documentation and general lab management.

Your Profile

  • Completed training as MTLA, BTA, CTA, chemistry or biology lab technician, or a Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Life Science, Biochemistry, or equivalent qualification.
  • Practical experience in cell culture, molecular biology, and biochemical techniques; willingness to work with animal experiments.
  • Structured, organized, and team-oriented working style.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Fluent in English or German.
