Save the Dates
Our events and excursions for the Summer Semester 2026 are currently being compiled and will be published here continuously until the start of the?semester.
?
Registration is possible as soon as each event is announced, usually about two weeks in advance. You will receive an invitation by email and can then register via the form below.
The networking events are primarily aimed at international researchers. Partners can often participate if places are still available. Please note, however, that unless otherwise stated, children are generally not able to attend.

Augsburg City Tour
As usual, we will start the new semester together with a guided tour through Augsburg. This is particularly suitable for researchers who have only recently arrived, but also for anyone else who would like to get to know their fellow researchers over lunch afterwards.
Excursion Kochelsee
Our excursion will take us to Lake Kochel in the "Blue Land". There, we will visit the Franz Marc Museum and gain a deeper understanding of the "Blaue Reiter" ("Blue Rider") artists' group.
Welcome Service Reception
In the past, we regularly organized receptions for international researchers and their hosts. We're now pleased to revive this tradition and are planning a reception once again.
Excursion Ammersee
Our excursion will take us to Lake Ammer, which forms part of the "Fünfseenland" ("Land of Five Lakes"). After a boat tour across the lake, we'll have a decent hike up and reward ourselves with traditional food and drinks at the Andechs Monastery.
Excursion Partnachklam
Our excursion takes us to the Partnach Gorge near Garmisch-Partenkirchen. After our walk through the gorge, we’ll head uphill to treat ourselves to some refreshments whilst enjoying the view of the mountain landscape.
Stammtische SoSe 2026
The Welcome Service’s regular get-togethers take place every Thursday at 7 pm on the following dates:
23 April 2026
21 May 2026
18 June 2026
16 July 2026
Next Event: Excursion Kochelsee
Saturday, 9 May 2026
Lake Kochel, a picturesque pre-Alpine lake, is situated in Upper Bavaria, 70 kilometers south of Munich, nestled between the Herzogstand and Jochberg mountains, and is one of the most scenic lakes in the region.
?
A particular highlight is a visit to the
Franz Marc Museum in Kochel am See, where we will learn more about the artists' group Der Blaue Reiter and their close connection to the Upper Bavarian landscape.
Afterwards, we will enjoy lunch together at the idyllically situated
Seehotel Grauer B?r restaurant. As an option, you can also experience Lake Kochel from a new perspective on a relaxing
boat tour before we return to Augsburg together.
The Welcome Service will cover the entrance fees and the cost of the guided museum tour in English. Food and drinks at the restaurant are at your own expense.
Places are limited; accompanying persons can only attend if places are still available. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis and is open until Wednesday, 29 April 2026 via the form below. Places for plus ones can only be assigned after the registration deadline.?
Events Offered
Every semester, the Welcome Service offers researchers from abroad a varied program of events with excursions and regular get-togethers, which often leave a lasting impression on participants.
In an informal and international atmosphere, our events enable researchers to establish interdisciplinary and cross-faculty contacts that contribute significantly to a successful research stay at the University of Augsburg.
Our offer of events ranges from city trips and museum visits to boat rides and hikes in the countryside. In addition to the most important sights in Bavaria, such as Neuschwanstein Castle or the state capital of Munich, the program also includes ‘hidden gems’ such as the medieval town of Landsberg am Lech or the Partnach Gorge.
