Postdoctoral Researcher (m/f/d), Faculty of Mathematics, Natural Sciences, and Materials Engineering
The department of Physics at the University of Augsburg has an open position in the group of Prof. Dr. Nadine Schwierz starting?from September 1st, 2026 as ?Postdoctoral Researcher (m/f/d) Project overview: Lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) represent one of the most promising technologies for the delivery of RNA-based therapeutics into cells. Despite their tremendous biomedical relevance, the molecular mechanisms underlying pH-triggered structural transitions, membrane fusion, and RNA release remain insufficiently understood. This project aims to uncover the fundamental biophysical mechanisms by which ionizable lipids regulate structural and functional behavior in ionizable lipid systems and lipid nanoparticles. The research will focus on modeling lipid systems and performing molecular dynamics (MD) simulations. In addition, the project involves the calculation of neutron and X-ray scattering signals from simulations and their quantitative comparison with experimental data. Areas of responsibility: What we offer: Job requirements: The University of Augsburg promotes professional equality for women. Women are expressly encouraged to apply. Augsburg University is particularly committed to the compatibility of family and working life. For further information, please contact the Faculty Women's Representative. The University also tries to increase the proportion of scientists with physical disabilities. Respective applications are welcome. Mai 15th, 2026 to?Prof. Dr. Nadine Schwierz
