Joachim Herz Foundation supports up to 80 researchers through its?Add-on Fellowships for Interdisciplinary Science and Transfer. The program targets scholars from the engineering, economics, and life sciences who are engaged in innovative, interdisciplinary research projects and are motivated to further develop the transfer potential of their research. The focus is on the thematic priority “Resources of the future”. The Joachim Herz Foundation supports in particular interdisciplinary approaches that contribute to making economic and technological resources more sustainable and efficient to use. This can include, for example, research into economic processes or new materials. The funding is aimed at excellent researchers in the early stages of their careers. In addition, applicants must, at the time of application, be employed at a university or a non-profit research institution in Germany, or have their research otherwise funded at such an institution. Fellows receive funding of up to EUR 15,000 for a period of two years. The funds can be used flexibly, for example for: Travel expenses and participation fees for research stays, conference attendance, professional training, or other research-related events (including fellowship meetings), Acquisition of specialized equipment (e.g., hardware or software), Data acquisition or data collection, Measures to further develop the transfer potential of the research, Funding of researchers’ own scientific workshops or conferences, as well as activities in science communication.
