Curriculum Vitae

Felix Büsching is a research assistant at the Chair of Information Systems and Management at the Department of Business Administration, Faculty of Business and Economics, University of Augsburg, Germany.

?

In his research, Büsching studies the nexus of business strategy and digital technology. His work centers on data strategies and the role of data ventures, that is, emerging firms that produce, orchestrate, and analyze digital data on behalf of other actors. He presented his work at the Doctoral Consortium of the European Conference on Information Systems (ECIS) 2024 in Cyprus and at the 2025 Paper Development Workshop of the?Special Interest Group on Digital Innovation, Transformation, and Entrepreneurship (SIG DITE PDW) at the University of Hamburg, Germany. His work has been published in the Journal of Business Economics. Methodologically, Büsching primarily draws on qualitative approaches and methods.

?

Büsching studied Business and Economics at the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU), Germany (B.A. 2018) and Business Administration at the University of Augsburg, Germany (M.Sc. 2021). In addition, he spent parts of his studies at the Osaka University, Japan (2019/20). During his studies at the University of Augsburg, Büsching first engaged more deeply with the information systems (IS) discipline through the teaching and research activities of the chair of Professor Veit. At the same chair, he initially worked as a student assistant and later completed his master’s thesis. In December 2025, Büsching successfully defended his dissertation entitled “Three Essays on Digital Strategy” under the supervision of Professor Veit.

?

In teaching, Büsching serves as a lecturer for the course “Information Systems and Business Modeling.” He supervises bachelor’s and master’s theses, often relying on qualitative methods (e.g., case studies), particularly in the areas of digital strategy and digital data.
