The French Minister of National Education, Higher Education and Research has appointed Prof. Dr. Ruth Horn a Knight of the French National Order of Academic Palms.

The Ambassador of the French Embassy in the United Kingdom, Hélène Tréheux-Duchêne, recently presented the French National Order of Chevalier dans l’Ordre des Palmes Académiques to Prof. Dr. Ruth Horn on behalf of Mme la Ministre de l’Education Nationale, de l’Enseignement Supérieur et de la Recherche Elisabeth Borne. The award recognises her contributions to France through her scientific collaborations and comparative research on ethical issues at the end of life and in genomic medicine, as well as her policy advisory activities in France.?

The Order of the Academic Palms is one of the highest orders for services to French education and, along with the Legion of Honour, one of the oldest awards. Napoleon Bonaparte established this official award in 1808 for members of the university.

Professor Ruth Horn, who received her doctorate from the ?cole des Hautes ?tudes en Sciences Sociales in Paris, has been the long-time director and coordinator of numerous national and international cross-country projects and collaborations.
