On Monday, January 26, 2026, the inaugural lectures of Prof. Dr. Michael Seufert ( Chair of Networked Systems and Communication Networks) and Prof. Dr. Jakob Kottmann ( Chair of Quantum Algorithmics) took place in a joint event.
The aim of the event was to introduce students as well as colleagues at the University of Augsburg to the research areas and academic focus of the two professorships. To this end, both professors delivered introductory lectures on their respective fields of research.
In his lecture entitled “Technical and Perceived Quality in Today’s and Tomorrow’s Internet” Prof. Seufert outlined his academic career path, from his early studies to his appointment as professor, providing insights into his research activities at each stage.
In contrast, Prof. Kottmann offered an introduction to the field of quantum algorithmics with his lecture “A Gentle Introduction to Quantum Algorithmics,” giving the audience an accessible overview of this research area.
Following the two inaugural lectures, a reception was held in the foyer of the computer science building, providing a great opportunity for further discussions.
Overall, the event was very well attended and sparked a lively exchange of ideas among participants.
